Desktop apps

Some software belongs on the desktop. Traders keep it open for eight hours. Engineers run it next to hardware. Power users need keyboard shortcuts, multiple windows, local files and system integrations a browser tab cannot give them. We build desktop applications for exactly those cases.

Our stack of choice is Electron with Angular: one codebase for Windows, macOS and Linux, a modern UI, and the option to share code with your web application. We used it to lead frontend development of a capital market trading application for ČSOB, and we ship desktop software of our own.

Electron and Angular desktop app development

Electron gives you a real installed application with access to the file system, native menus, notifications and auto updates. Angular gives large desktop applications structure: modules, typed services and predictable state. Together they fit complex interfaces that must stay maintainable for years.

Electron has a reputation for heavy apps. That comes from careless builds, not from the platform. We keep the main process lean, move expensive work off the UI thread, and profile memory and startup time on real machines.

Desktop software for trading, engineering and operations

For ČSOB, together with Capgemini, we led frontend development of a sophisticated Angular and Electron application that streamlined capital market trading for bank employees. Dense data, fast updates and zero tolerance for errors shaped every screen.

For Honeywell we built a custom map display interface for testing flying systems: trajectories and flight information visualized for engineers, tested on a real crewed drone for Vertical Aerospace. It is the kind of specialized, data-heavy interface that professional desktop users rely on.

We build and ship our own desktop app

VibeIDE is our own desktop workspace for AI coding agents. It launches and manages Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode agents side by side, with project task queues, parallel terminals and resumable sessions. We sell it, support it and ship updates to real users.

Why build a desktop app instead of a web app?

Choose desktop when users need local files, hardware access, multiple windows, offline work or deep OS integration, or when the app is open all day and must feel instant. If none of that applies, a web application is often cheaper to build and distribute. We will tell you honestly which one fits your case.

What does a desktop application cost?

It depends on scope: number of screens, native integrations, offline sync, supported platforms, and signing and update infrastructure. Reusing an existing Angular web codebase can lower cost significantly. The free roadmap gives you a number with a detailed cost breakdown within 24 hours on business days.

Is Electron fast enough?

Yes, when it is engineered properly. Trading screens with dense, fast-changing data run on Electron. Performance problems usually come from loading too much at startup or blocking the UI thread. We profile startup time, memory and rendering on real hardware and fix issues before release.

Who owns the application and signing certificates?

You do. Source code, IP, code signing certificates and distribution accounts are set up in your company name. The build pipeline is documented, so your team or another vendor can release new versions without us. Nothing about the release process depends on accounts or keys that only we hold.

How are updates delivered securely?

Builds are code signed and updates are verified before installation. Update feeds can run on our dedicated EU hardware in German data centers or on your own infrastructure. Enterprise clients can also get installers suited for managed deployment through their own IT tooling.
